The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking to re-open 1984 anti-Sikh riots cases for which the Centre had set up its own Special Investigation Team (SIT) last year.
AAP leader Jarnail Singh has cited that the victims of the riots have “failed to get justice” even after 32 years of the tragic event while the “culprits are roaming freely.”
AAP had appointed an SIT to investigate the cases during its 49-days term in Delhi between 2013-2014. Singh has alleged that the SIT had promised to re-open cases in six months but has failed to do it even after 2 years of its formation.
Singh asked PM Modi to “reinvestigate the cases in next three months or let AAP government do it.”
Singh has said that AAP has also planned a one-day hunger strike at “Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar in Mohali in support of the victims of 1984.”
