In what appears to be an explosive charge against prime minister Narendra Modi, Rahul Gandhi has claimed citing income tax documents that Sahara Group paid the PM Rs. 40 crores before the 2014 general assembly elections.
At a party rally in Gujarat, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi has alleged of obtaining scrutinized records of Sahara Group which was raided by income tax department in November 2014.
“This information that income tax department has, is it true or not?” Gandhi questioned Modi at the rally. “If it is true, when will there be an inquiry on it?”
According to the records, as cited by Rahul Gandhi, Sahara Group had given Narendra Modi a total sum of Rs. 40 crores in a period of five months between October 2013 and February 2014. The revelation comes after a week when Gandhi accused Modi with corruption charge.
Rahul Gandhi demanded an independent inquiry on the same.
